The Canadian Airline Industry was in a bad condition during the early 1980s. The competition in the marketplace was fiercer than today.
Air Canada has completed with PWA and CP Air on trunk routes in the Western area of the country. In Eastern Canada and seasonal charter markets, Eastern Province, Quebecair and Nordair added competitive pressures because they were the regional carries of that day.
In 1982, DC-8s has been replaced by the Boeing 767s on trans-con routes. Boeing 767s were the new and costly aircrafts which were delivered to Air Canada. As the US routes were on full pressure, this resulted the new entrants fostered by the deregulation of the US industry. During that year, there was bankrupted in Braniff international and the industry bleeding a lot.
In this informative industry film, complicated issues of Air Canada during the early 1980s have examined. The Air Canada Industry Challenges in 1982 has made by the airline for the company’s staff to give awareness about the dire state of the industry. In 2012, we have digitized this historic airline film. This film didn’t fit into the 1970s easily. Recently, we have released this film from the Air Canada collection.
