In the 1950s, a job as a stewardess was a job for younger, non-married women. But it was a highly prestigious position and a young, well-mannered lady could explore the world, whilst also earning a good pay check. The stewardess position of the 1950s demanded many skills including aptitude, honed pose, good manners, impeccable grooming and the ability to cope with an emergency in a calm manner whilst under pressure. All of these demands were such that only a select group of fine women were able to attain such a highly coveted position of the day.
Trans-Canada Air Lines Canadair DC-4M2 Northstars and Vickers Viscounts, the main airliners of the 1950s for TCA both feature quite extensively in this cute little movie, making it a must-watch show for classic airliner fans.
