For weekend warriors, the US Air Force offers reservists a wide range of interesting and exciting opportunities, as explained in this Air Force film from 1980.
The film opens at Hill Air Force Base in Utah, showing C130 Hercules and C5 Galaxy of the US Air Force Air Logistics Command. Both the USAF Lockheed C-130 Hercules and C-5 Galaxy aircraft feature prominently in the film as do F105 Thunderchiefs, and a host of other USAF aircraft of the day, including Cessna A-37, USAF Resume HH-3 Jolly Green Giants, F-4 Phantoms, Hueys, C-123 Prover and C-7 Caribou transport aircraft.
A large part of the films examines a staged USAF deployment to a remote location, which was staged at Volke Field in Wisconsin. This was laid on so reservists could see what expect if a similar situation were to happen in real life. USAF Rescue plays a key role in deployments both real and practiced, and the film closes with a rescue simulation using both Hercules and HH-3 helicopters.
