Welcome back to the 1970s with Mutton Chops, Afros and front line revenue service DC-10s baby! Miami based National Airlines operated a fleet of 16 Douglas DC-10s between late 1971 and the time of their merger with Pan Am in the late 1970s.
The National Airlines DC-10s were primarily used on National’s high density trans continental routes and their peak services connecting the Northeast with Southern Florida. Because National Airlines was merged into Pan Am, very few of their publicity films have survived as Pan Am staff probably seconded them to the perils of the rubbish bin. But this is one such film that has survived and serves as a memory and document of what it was like to fly on the DC-10 when it was top if its game as a brand new, state of the art, widebody trijet.
