This publicity film dates from the late 1960s and was produced to present Lockheed’s line up of aircraft dedicated to meeting the airlift needs primarily of the US military. The smallest aircraft in the Lockheed stable would be the C-130 Hercules or L-100 as designated for commercial operators. The Hercules boasts a 49,000 payload capability and was produced in large number for the US military arms. The C-141 Starlifter was a 707 jetliner sized airlifter which was offered in a standard and stretch fuselage version. And the line up was topped with the massive C-5 Galaxy, a jumbo jet sized transport. Fifty years after this film was produced it is surprising that both the Hercules and Galaxy remain in operation in various forms.
