In 1957, the Canadair built CF-100 Canuck was Canada’s front line fighter interceptor (along with having nuclear bomber capability), and the aircraft formed the formidable backbone to the defence of Canada’s airspace from Cold War threats of the day. These types of films follow a common theme with descriptions of the duties of the pilots in their duty role as fighter interceptor pilots of the day.
They had to be highly alert should the call come to scramble to intercept enemy aircraft, and this 35 minute film explains both the behind the scenes people at work and the fighter pilots doing their job. As per SOP this film concludes with an interception of a possible enemy aircraft.
